The 1965 model gave the FL electric starting; the Shovelhead years carried the name through one of the company's most difficult periods; the Evolution era restored confidence; the Twin Cam and Milwaukee-Eight generations turned it into a sophisticated long-distance platform without erasing the V-twin pulse at its center.

For collectors, the best Electra Glide is not simply the shiniest one. It is the motorcycle whose identity still makes sense: correct engine family, believable chassis, intact touring equipment, honest documentation, and a specification that reflects its year. Few model names reveal more about Harley-Davidson's survival, police presence, touring culture, and American road habits than Electra Glide.
