The FLHTCU Ultra Classic Electra Glide is important because it shows Harley-Davidson doing what no other manufacturer could quite duplicate: building a luxury touring motorcycle around the sound, feel, and visual honesty of an air-cooled American big twin. It was never the lightest, fastest, or most technically radical touring motorcycle of its era, and judging it by those measures misses the point.
